Outreach Programs
Though
aware its very limited resources, Mater Dei College has been
finding ways to concretize its Vision, Mission, and Goals
(VMG). In response to the invitations from neighboring barangays
who seek for assistance in whatever forms, the school has
formally launched its Community Extension Services (CES).
The farmers of Macaas received the first assistance of this
outreach program through MDC by tapping an international agriculturist
in the person of Jean Darunday who shared to the farmers how
to improve farming by means of embracing an alternative farming
known as organic farming.
After a thorough assessment with these farmers, it was found
out that they also need a pump to water their rice fields,
so the school facilitated the process of looking for a source
to finance the said pump until Mrs. Halweena Coffin, a benefactor
of some students of Mater Dei, promised to donate an amount
for the farming equipment.
For a sustaining project, Mater Dei College launched its
livelihood program in the form of goat raising which started
last June 2005. There were 12 goats distributed to the 11
members of the farmers and at present the goats are raised
into 17 and again distributed to other members.
